Scientific Research of Soul Voice®

Our scientific research will test the method and its efficacy in terms of healing, also appearing in publications with major visibility and allowing the method to be validated in international scientific communities. Currently, the Soul Voice® Research team is implementing a pilot study protocol with teenagers in Portugal through weekly workshops led by Sofia Serra, with the structured support of the rest of the research team.

The aim of this pilot study was to explore the use of the meditative vocal method Soul Voice® to reduce Music Performance Anxiety (MPA) and evaluate its effectiveness among students aged 12 to 14. The sessions focused on employing voice through meditation, breathing techniques, body awareness, peer support, sound projection, vocal expansion, and other vocal exercises from the method. The development of self-awareness among young musicians using the Soul Voice® method presents a potentially innovative and effective approach to addressing MPA.

The Soul Voice® Research team has made significant progress in disseminating the results of its work. In September 2024, the team published the paper titled “The Soul Voice Method as a Vocal Tool to Reduce Music Performance Anxiety in Adolescent Music Students: A Pilot Study” at PEVOC2024, the Pan-European Voice Conference “Voice Moves the World”, presented by Sofia Serra.

At PEVOC2024, held in Santander, Spain, Karina Schelde conducted the workshop “Exploring Soul Voice®: A Journey of Self-Expression and Vocal Expansion through Embodiment”, which was met with enthusiastic participation from a full room of attendees.

The conference gathered a diverse group of participants, including singers, actors, medical doctors, vocal therapists, and other voice-related professionals. It was a dynamic event, with Soul Voice® making its mark among other vocal methods.
